Password Strength & Breach Checker," is a cybersecurity utility that evaluates the security of user credentials through a combination of local complexity analysis and privacy-preserving breach detection. To fulfill the strict requirement of never exposing the raw password over the network, the tool processes the password's strength score entirely on the client side by analyzing factors like length, character variety, and entropy. For the breach verification component, the application must cryptographically hash the password locally and employ a k-Anonymity model—sending only a short prefix of the hash to a public breach API. The API then returns a list of compromised hash suffixes matching that prefix, allowing the local client to securely cross-reference the remainder of the hash to determine if the credential has been exposed in known data leaks without ever transmitting the actual password.
